1st Folkloric Dance Festival
On July 10, the non-profit organization #arteneo will host its 1st Folkloric Dance Festival at the Lake Eola Amphitheater, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. It will be a completely free event for the whole family. The purpose of this Festival is to integrate the community, both Spanish and English speakers alike, as the majority will be Hispanic dance groups performing in an area mostly visited by an English-speaking audience. At the same time, we aim to fulfill our Cultural commitment by promoting local talents who are eager to express their artistry.
In this Festival, we will feature various typical dance groups, which will compete before a 5-member panel of judges connected to the artistic community. These judges will evaluate:
- Presentation (Puntualidad)
- Punctuality
- Attire/Costumes
- Choreography
- Body Expression
- Musical Coordination
- Institutional Fan Support (Barra)
The group that achieves the highest score from the panel will be the winner of the Festival and will receive a $2,000 cash prize, to be delivered within a maximum of 60 days, as part of the incentive provided by Downtown Orlando. Applications officially closed on May 30; however, as an exception, we may accept new registrations until July 3, provided they meet the following:
Be an established group with experience in the style of dance to be performed.
Have no fewer than 4 members.
Possess the corresponding traditional attire.
Record a video of no more than 1 minute answering:
Who are you?
Which country will you represent?
What typical dance will you perform? along with a brief demonstration. This video must be sent via WhatsApp to: 407-731-03-31 including your Instagram account so we can tag you.
